Cinque Terre

Distance from Podere Conti: 45 minutes’ drive

Cinque Terre is a must-visit destination consisting of the five picturesque fishing villages of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore all perched along the rocky coastline. Visitors can hike the 18 km of coastal paths connecting them, following old mule tracks, including the famous Via dell’ Amore, enjoy fresh seafood and take in the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Porto Venere

Located just south of Cinque Terre, Porto Venere is a charming village with a rich history. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the village boasts a picturesque harbour, pastel-coloured houses and some great swimming spots.  Catch a ferry to the Cinque Terre, swim at Byron’s Bay or take a ferry to one of the nearby islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.

Lerici

Distance from Podere Conti: 30 minutes’ drive

Lerici is a lovely Italian Riviera town situated on the Gulf of La Spezia, otherwise known as Gulf of the Poets. The town is famous for its

association with poets such as Mary Shelley and Lord Byron - who enjoyed swimming across the gulf - as well as its long public beach and attractive promenade.

Viareggio

Viareggio is a lively beach town with a rich history and cultural scene. It’s famous for its annual carnival, which takes place each Saturday in February and the first Saturday of March, and the Puccini Festival which runs during July and August. Visitors can also enjoy a long beach promenade and lively nightlife.

Tellaro & Fiascherino

Distance from Podere Conti: 40 minutes’ drive

Named as one of the top 100 most beautiful hamlets in Italy, Tellaro is just south of Lerici and together with its neighbouring village of Fiascherino are just as beautiful, albeit less touristy, than the Cinque Terre. If you’re looking for stunning scenery, old-world charm and a laid-back vibe, this is your spot.

Forte dei Marmi

Distance from Podere Conti: 40 minutes’ drive

This seaside town is a glamorous resort town on the Versilia coast, known for its designer shops, famous nightclubs and its excellent weekly market, which is by far the best in the region (open Wednesday mornings, and during high season Sunday mornings as well). It’s a great place to soak up some rays and indulge in some retail therapy.
